It is no longer a question of if you should sell your gold, but where to sell gold. The price of gold has peaked at an all-time high at a steady rate. Real estate, the stock market, and the US dollar have proven over the course of time that they are not as recession-proof as we once surmised that they would be. But then there is gold. Gold has always been, continues to be, and will always remain a rock solid investment, for as long as people continue to value gold, in the financial future.

So the decision of where to sell gold depends on where you can get the right price for it. The one thing you want to avoid is sell your gold to somefancy pawn shop or jewelry exchange that would swindle you out of the true value of your products. At the end of the day, even a jewelry retailer needs to make a buck too, right? After all, a retailer is going to pocket your gold and attempt to flip it… the old buy low, sell high concept. It’s his job to pay as less as possible for your gold so that he can sell the same item for as high as he can, to make money.

The ideal place where to sell gold jewelry is to a gold refinery. Why? Because they are in the business to take your gold and melt it down, and repurpose it as appropriate. Gold refineries are not in the business of retail. They don’t resell gold items. They are essentially a wholesale distributor of raw gold. There is no middle-man, therefore the profit margins are higher, and therefore they can afford to offer you maximum value for your gold.

The truth is that, you can expect to earn about 300% more for your gold through one of these refineries than you would if you were to sell it at retail.

The advantage is that these companies are offer a haggle-free price. They offer a quick turn-around time and issue payment to you expediently. You don’t have to fear being ripped off, because you won’t be. You are getting the highest payout possible, while still leaving room for the refinery to profit as well.

So it really is wise to do your homework before you make a decision about who to sell it to. Just make sure that you are not dealing with some gold “dealership”. Just be sure you are not giving up your gold to some hustler that is out there to rip you off.

If you own gold, then you should know that you actually hold the upper hand in any situation that requires negotiation. Gold is a scarce commodity. You possess something that THEY want. They want your gold. So you should not settle for what pittance they are willing to give you. You should know the true worth of your gold.

That is what makes a metal refinery the ideal place to sell uswed gold

Thanks for the info in this article….great read. I agree that we all need to be careful where we choose to sell our old jewelry – there are too many companies out there now ready to just rip us off. I think we all need to do lots of homework before being willing to just send off our items. Find out if the company has any BBB complaints, what are their terms and conditions, can you get your items back if you don’t like the offer (and easily and timely), what are their customer saying, and be sure you know what they’re going to pay you (do they list their buy prices online). When I researched all of this – I finally found one that met all of these conditions. The Silver And Gold Exchange in NH – seem very reputable. (http://silverandgoldexchange.com) I’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks again for the article.
